Salon Sanitation & Safety: This course will teach you the best practices for proper sanitation methods for everything within a groomer’s purview. This includes all work areas, all tools, as well as crating. This course covers zoonoses, which cleaners will or won’t kill them, as well as the difference between cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation. You will be taught the best practices for handling this disease within a salon, mobile, or housecall setting. Safety in the salon and preventing injury to yourself and the pet are covered as well. This course is 5 hours and is a tested certificate course.
a
Bathing & Prep: It all starts in the bathtub. Everything we do for a finish groom is entirely dependent upon the bath and the prep. Let me show you how to smooth out the rough edges on your grooms to do better and make your job easier! This course is 4 hours.  Topics include: It All Begins In The Tub, Shampoo, Which Ones & Why, Recipes, Conditioning, Oils, and Sprays, Drying, Brushing, It’s Not So Straightforward, Combing, Skimming, The Time Saver, Thinners, Chunkers, and Shears, The Underside and Sanitary, Ears, Nails & Feet, The Tail End.

OSHA Compliance: The grooming industry is changing.  OSHA is watching, and disgruntled employees, or even the angry Doodle owner, can file a report with OSHA. The average OSHA fine is $15,000. Do you have that on hand to throw away? Most don’t, so let’s get you prepared before the inspector shows up with the clipboard and starts checking off boxes that will cost you money. This course includes: Chemical Safety, Ventilation, & Noise. This module covers mandatory safety standards, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and environmental management to keep your salon 100% compliant.

a

Personal Safety: One of the unfortunate sides of being a female majority in the world of grooming is women are far more at risk for their personal safety. We deal with aggressive customers, and sometimes these interactions go off the rails. I will help you change your perception of your safety, and empower you to make your safety in your salon, mobile van, or housecall grooming a habit. This course includes safety at trade shows as well as personal safety in your day-to-day life. This is a 2.5 hour class.

Customer Service & Customer Relations: Customer service is one of the most important aspects of our industry. It’s also where many groomers fall short. You don’t need to cave to unreasonable demands to have good customer service. You do need to know the tips and tricks that will help you to keep that customer despite you saying no and have them then rave about how you cared for their pet.

We care for animals in this business, but we also must care for their owners, and in order to do so we must recognize that the need is there. I will show you simple solutions to universal problems, and how to make the customer feel that you not only care for their pet, but you care about them as well. That care is the cornerstone of a prosperous business.
I will teach you how to create an atmosphere of trust, understood expectations, and lifetime customers. This is a one hour PGC approved course.

The Labor Law & Pay Structure Intensive: In 2026, the “industry standard” for pay is no longer a legal shield; it’s a liability. With the Department of Labor tightening the “Economic Reality” test for contractors and implementing new, aggressive overtime salary thresholds, many salon owners are unknowingly operating on a foundation of high-risk practices. This intensive moves beyond theory and into tactical execution, auditing your current W2 vs. 1099 classifications and breaking down the “Commission Trap.” You will learn how to navigate the complex math of “Regular Rate of Pay” for overtime and ensure your commission-based models meet every federal and state requirement for minimum wage and transparency.
This is the “Compliance Shield” every pet professional needs to move from a vulnerable boss to an ironclad CEO. By the end of this session, you will have a step-by-step roadmap for implementing legal pay structures, standardized record-keeping, and “Future Proof” employee handbooks that protect your business from disgruntled claims and costly audits. We are moving past the “handshake and a hope” era of employment—it’s time to build a professional, profitable, and protected workforce that allows you to scale your salon with absolute confidence and zero legal anxiety.
